These LCD panels are rumored to be integrated into ultra-portable low-cost notebook PC units by Acer, Asus and HP. I’m glad the width of these LCDs are at least 1024. Browsing the Internet and anything less than 1024 pixels is not very pleasant. Other sources point to the possibility that these LCDs will sport LED backlights. This makes and doesn’t make sense.

Asus launched the Eee PC in 2007 and the Eee PC 4G garnered substantial praise among users and the press. By trimming down the notebook PC to only the basics and allowing a full-blown OS to be used and topping it off with a great price, the Eee PC was born to succeed in a marketplace that was crowded with really expensive portable devices.

Sharp’s D4 WS016SH UMPC is a slider-type that sports Intel’s new Centrino Atom Z520 CPU running at 1.33GHz. The LCD is a 5″ sporting a very high pixel format of 1024 x 600 and is touch capable. The D4 has 1GB of RAM and a 40GB HD.
