I am going through this whole scenario with displays for prepress. IMO, manufacturers are negligent in not being transparent about what panel tecnology they have behind them. I am wondering if I should try and get an S-IPS Dell, in the "cheaper" $600 range, [assuming I can confirm what panel it is; not always possible, I suspect]. Or go for an NEC 2090UXi, at around $1000+. Trouble is I have to justify the pricing with people who have no idea of the technology of TFT displays.
I have now begun to "read" the common specs...i.e. slower response time = better because more likely S-IPS. 5 ms or less I asume to be Tn, so avoid looking at them.
